Dynamic Inertia

I don't know what category to put this one under. This workout system is called dynamic inertia - there's an oxymoron if I ever heard one. Kind of like: tight slacks, vacation Bible school, Dodge Ram, high-class hooker. I could go on and I will - plastic silverware, small crowd, dull roar, peace force, and my favorite, act naturally.

How much does added muscle increase metabolism?

A number often bandied about is that an additional pound of muscle will burn 50 calories a day. What about already existing muscle? Wouldn't that muscle also burn 50 calories a day too? The 50-calorie-a-day number can’t be true if one makes the assumption that the muscle tissue you all ready had before adding that pound of muscle will produce the same calorie burn - i.e.

How dirty can a health club get?

I have worked in health clubs for 29 years. Some of the more egregious examples of the lack of upkeep in health clubs that I have seen:

· Mushrooms growing out of the carpet in the wet area. I was amazed by the phenomenon as much as I was disgusted.
· An infestation of worms crawling around in the steam room
· The smell of urine on the hot rocks in the sauna
