The first day Sheila walked into our personal training facility she required the use of a walker. Sheila had recently had a double hip replacement and had just completed her rehabilitation with a physical therapist.
When she first began her personal training sessions with us she was weak and her range of motion was limited. With the regular personal training sessions her improvement was dramatic. Soon she no longer required a walker. Her gait improved. Personal training was instrumental in her recovery. It has been five years, and she is still at it.
Those who start personal training after an operation have the most room for improvement, but care must taken to avoid injury. With our personal training system we limit movement to a pain free range of motion. When appropriate we gradually increase that range of motion.
We eliminate the jerking movements that can put undue stress on the joints, and we use MedX medical rehabilitation equipment at both of our personal training facilities - Kelly Personal Training in Austin and at Ultimate Fitness in New Orleans. This equipment is appropriate for athletes and for those undergoing rehab, but people who have be severely compromised by hip or knee replacement have the most to gain.
